Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a JOINT OPERATIONS CENTER TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1245000 and is part of the NC J3, National Guard (J3-JOC/ MD 1422-803).

The area of consideration for this position is CAT 1 (Areas 1-3) (NC National Guard). Application will only be accepted from current military members of the NC National Guard.

Duties

As a JOINT OPERATIONS CENTER TECHNICIAN, GS-0303-7, you will assist in the management and daily operations of the Joint Operations Center; take calls from Federal, state and the public on exchange of information and records all pertinent data; examine, analyze and interpret data from a variety of resources, i.e., interrelated electronic monitoring instruments, visual displays, area maps, news reports, and electronic mail to detect conditions of the area, either normal or abnormal; participate with the JOC Manager in briefing key staff members on significant emergency situations and providing situational assessments requiring response and recommendations for appropriate action; serve as a member of the JOC emergency response team to provide support to either the Federal, state or public operations; control COMSEC information, material, and devices and be responsible for receipt, inventory, storage, issue, protection and destruction; perform a wide variety of administrative services.

Shift Schedule: Normal shift schedule consists of five 8hr days each week within seven-day week Sunday - Saturday. Five day week includes weekends and holidays as scheduled on a rotational basis, or as required. Must be able to work any shift - 1st Shift 0645 - 1515, 2nd Shift 1445 - 2315, or 3rd Shift 2245 - 0715. New hires enter on 2nd Shift or 3rd Shift. Schedule and/or shift is subject to change based on staffing requirements and mission priorities

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted (E3 to E6)

Minimum Requirements: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (Must have 12 months of experience) in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience demonstrating the ability to advise lower graded employees. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.
