SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience for the GS-04 level position.Examples of experience includes knowledge of a body of standardized library rules, procedures, and operations related to one or more library functions, such as those used to maintain the collection, locate information, process library materials, or assist clientele with routine inquiries. Knowledge of circulation procedures to perform all regular duties including issuance and cancellation of borrower cards and resolving recurring problems, such as lost or damaged books or magazines. Knowledge of several interlibrary loan sources, and of standard verification and request procedures to locate and borrow items where requests are frequently incomplete or contain incorrect citations. Knowledge of programs in a general library to conduct special events, locate materials for exhibits on a given theme, and to prepare announcements of events/programs for bulletin boards and employee newsletters. Knowledge of library operating policies and procedures and routine reference sources to answer recurring questions from users on such matters as borrowing and access privileges. interlibrary loan procedures and library programs. simple ready reference questions, and recurring questions from vendors on procedural matters.

EDUCATION: 2 years above high school obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of a body of standardized library rules, procedures, and operations related to one or more library functions,such as those used to maintain the collection, locate information, process library materials, or assist clientele with routineinquiries.
- Knowledge of circulation procedures to perform all regular duties including issuance and cancel ation of borrower cardsand resolving recurring problems, such as lost or damaged books or magazines; Knowledge of several interlibrary loan sources and standard verification and request procedures to locate and borrowitems where requests are frequently incomplete or contain incorrect citations.

- Knowledge of one or more word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
- Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific library function.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
