Summary

This position will be assigned to Youth Programs located on JBSA Lackland.

This is a Flexible category position with guaranteed 00 hours per week and may work up to 40 hours per week. Work schedule varies based on facility needs.

Employees appointed to flexible category positions are not eligible for benefits.

Duties

The function of the organization where this position is located is in official functional statements. The purpose of this position is to perform simple, manual tasks for the Services Childcare Program.

1. Performs a variety of simple, manual tasks involving the use of simple hand tools and equipment. Lifts and carries light-to- medium weight packages, materials, and tools. Opens and unpacks cardboard cartons by hand and removes contents; lifts and carries light-to-medium weight packages, materials, tools, furniture, debris, etc., and places them where directed.
2. Uses hand trucks and/or dollies to move bulky but relatively light loads (e.g., boxes of copier paper or other office supplies).
3. Picks up trash and paper from grounds and working areas. Cuts grass with push lawn mower (manual); rakes leaves; spreads mulch; pulls weeds; trims and waters grass; sprays pre-mixed weed and/or insect control solutions; spreads abrasives and/or chemicals on icy surfaces; shovels snow, plants minor landscape items.
4. Washes motor vehicles; and wipes dirt or grease from hand tools etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Effort: Frequently lifts and carries light to medium weight objects (10 to 30 lbs.) and occasionally lifts objects up to 45 lbs. Continuous walking, bending, stopping, and reaching.

Working Conditions: Work may be outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme temperatures, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscles strains, cuts, and scrapes.

2. Must be able to use hand tools and equipment such as rakes, hoes, and hand-trucks properly.
