Duties
- Operate large, complex riding lawn mower (e.g., multiple and independently controlled cutting decks) and/or specially designed riding mowers to mow in areas requiring attention to space and environment.
- Skill and knowledge to operate and control large, complex riding mowers and similar type mowing equipment in areas that require constant attention to working space and environment.
- Very heavy physical effort is required in operating large, riding mowers on grades and in areas with bushes, trees, and other visible obstacles that require significant maneuvering and level control.
- Incumbent is responsible for selecting the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish the work, following safety practices, obtaining assistance, and performing routine maintenance and adjustments on equipment.

- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position may require a health screening. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
- Works indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions when working outdoors. Exposed to drafts, noise, dust, and dirt.
- Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, and safety glasses and exercise proper handling of equipment to avoid serious injury in the work area.
- Required ability to lift and carry items up to 50lbs.
Qualifications
1. Demonstrated work experience operating and controlling large, complex riding mowers and similar type mowing equipment in areas that require constant attention to working space and environment (e.g., equipment height and width when working around trees, trenches, large potholes, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles)
2. Operate varies controls and levers to maneuver equipment (e.g., riding mower, hedge trimmer etc.) and change attach devices/ components (e.g. lift/lower, adjust, engage/disengage etc.) as needed.
3. Interpret instructions and specifications.
4. Use and maintain tools and equipment.
5. Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
