Join Our Team as a Lead Accounting Technician

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Lead Accounting Technician to join our team at JBSA Lackland NAF Resource Accounting Office. This is a full-time permanent position offering a minimum of 35 hours per week, with the potential to work up to 40 hours. About the Role

As a Lead Accounting Technician, you will guide and manage a team of 9-12 Accounting Technicians. Your responsibilities will include performing a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods. You will identify and address accounting issues, coordinate with end users, and ensure accounting accuracy across Joint Base San Antonio.

You will assist Flight Chiefs, Supervisors, and Managers with budgeting and forecasting, maintaining journal entries, and preparing financial reports. Additionally, providing customer support and conducting analyses of financial performance will be key aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide support to the Accounting Technicians team.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate accounting records, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare financial settlements, statements, reports, and manage general ledger closeout.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in NAF Financial functions.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and provide guidance to staff.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or Legal U.S. Resident with at least 3 years in the area.
  • Must complete a successful background investigation.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in NAF accounting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret financial regulations and apply them to varied accounting situations.
  • Experience with payroll systems and general procurement knowledge.
  • Preferably 12 credit hours of accounting courses from an accredited institution.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
