Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley SFB, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for a Lead Defensive Cyber Warfare Instructor, 64 CYS (NH-1712-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Description:
o Purpose: Serves as a multi-faceted Lead Defensive Cyber Warfare Instructor and supporting curriculum developer to design, develop, and instruct operations of the DCO-S weapon systems and courses of instruction for 64 CYS operators. The incumbent performs the full life cycle of technical training, including curriculum design and development, classroom instruction, and comprehensive student support. Duties require setting up instructional design and development criteria. The incumbent may design instructional materials for full-length residence, distance learning, and mobile team training courses. This position handles all activities related to instruction. The course design will use substantial adaptations or extensions of available guides and established procedures. Incumbent must possess knowledge in Cyber Defense Operations and Planning, Missile Warning/Defense, Cyber Environment, Space Operations, National Cyber Policy, and Global Missile Defense/Ballistic Missile Defense operations. Manages instruction facility/training classrooms and equipment sustainment and maintenance, including integration with STARCOM and Mission Delta

o Serves as the Lead Defensive Cyber Warfare Instructor responsible for instructing students through assigned blocks of instruction in mission qualification and/or advanced technical courses using a variety of methods and technologies. Prepares for instruction by studying course objectives and technical materials. Prepares, maintains, and presents diverse material; formulates training aids/devices; maintains classroom decorum; and ensures supplies, equipment, and classrooms are available for training. Participates in course development and modification; makes adjustments in presentations or instructional methods to resolve difficult classroom problems. Briefs students on potential hazards in the classroom, lab, etc. Applies knowledge of training principles and techniques to motivate students and make instruction as effective and interesting as possible. Mentors new instructors on required proficiency levels for areas assigned. Monitors and evaluates student progress. Administers complex measurement devices and provides feedback to students; maintains security over measurement devices. Observes and assesses student classroom activities and participation. Evaluates student performance; provides feedback and recommends special study or disposition for students who cannot assimilate materials. Counsels students to identify and resolve challenging problems. Assists students requiring remediation by providing Special Individualized Assistance (SIA). Maintains student administrative records. Reviews training for effectiveness in meeting lesson objectives. Inputs required data into an automated student tracking system. Initiates documentation, updates student training records, and schedules resources needed for instruction.
o Supports 64th Cyberspace Squadron's training program administration, planning, and execution for an annual class size of 85 students and virtual training environments across both classified and unclassified environments. Advises leadership, boards, and key military and civilian officials on all aspects of policy, planning, review, and research related to the instructional mission. Directs and formulates the education and training program in a line capacity, applying professional knowledge to solve complex educational and training challenges. Develops and recommends innovative and effective methods for program improvements and policy revisions to ensure the course meets the evolving needs of the United States Space Force (USSF) and United States Air Force (USAF). Plans, coordinates, and develops total program support, determining requirements for personnel, equipment, budget, and other resources to meet course objectives and schedules. Directs the systematic design, development, and revision of instructional systems for the DCO-S courses. Determines learning objectives, organizes course content, and develops comprehensive instruction design plans based on occupational analysis and mission requirements. Oversees the development, review, and revision of all instructional materials, including lesson plans, course outlines, supplemental study guides, and computer-assisted instruction. Develops and validates objective tests and other instruments to measure student achievement and the adequacy of instruction, studying learning objectives and occupational standards to ensure test reliability and validity. Continually reviews developments in the fields of education and training for potential application to the organization's program, ensuring the course remains current and effective.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • PCS / Incentive funding is not authorized.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 30 days per year.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
