In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) maintaining law and order to protect life and property, detecting and investigating crimes, arresting or apprehending violators, and performing patrols; (2) performing protection duties to deter, detect, or deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, or incident perimeter posts; (3) using word processing and web-based law enforcement computer programs to establish, update, query or print detailed reports, forms, or citations concerning incidents; and (4) conducting or assisting instructor with training of law enforcement topics or training fellow law enforcement officers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
