Summary

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); Naval Base Kitsap.

Duties

  • Lead Recreation Assistant, must be able to assist with the daily operations
  • Acts as Ambassador of the program and is knowledgeable about sports, fitness and aquatic programs, activities and events and other Fleet and Family Readiness program areas
  • Operates a point of sales system and various other computer software programs in order to receive payments for admission, class/programs registration, issuing membership cards, making facility reservations and recording/tracking data
  • Operates washers and dryers as needed and performs housekeeping duties
  • Assists with the oversight of the fitness center gear issue function, two car wash facilities and all other facets of a facility (i.e. grounds, outbuildings, workout areas, locker rooms, etc.
  • Develops employee work schedules for manager approval
  • Work order arrangements
  • Ensures adequate staff is present for shift to include remote fitness centers and schedule events
  • Assists with the supervision of personnel in the absence of the facility manager
  • Provides on the job training to new employees and serves as subject matter expert for applicable computer programs used in the facility operations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation
  • Must be minimum 18 years' old
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • This position is required to do considerable standing, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, reaching, climbing
  • Work requires standing, sitting, walking and at times lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to obtain CPR, AED and first aid certification within the 90 days of being appointed to the position
  • Must be able to work a schedule that meets the needs of the program. Typical Work Schedule is from Sat/Sun 0730-1600, Mon-Wed 1100-1930, Thurs/Fri Off day

Qualifications

  • Must have one year of experience with cash handling and operating a point of sales system
  • Must possess organizational skills
  • Must possess a customer oriented personality to include tact and diplomacy in order to communicate with both personnel and patrons
  • Must possess the skill to lead a group
  • Must be proficient in oral and written communication in order follow and provide direction
  • Possess the skill of being able to render decisions and ability to influence others in obtaining cooperation and assistance
  • Proficient computer skills in order to work with computer software programs, i.e. Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet Browsers

High School Diploma or equivalent
