Duties
- Serves as the lead lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
- Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions.
- Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water tests.
- Provides maximum surveillance of pool area and rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para. 2, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Requires a Hepatitis B Vaccination within 24-hour period in the case of exposure to infectious disease.
- Must wear protective equipment and follow environmental safeguards.
- May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements
- Work hours may include weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
- Must have good/corrective vision while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies.
- Satisfactorily complete additional background checks to have regular and recurring contact with children.
- Heavy lifting requirement of 25 lbs.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Possesses and maintains the following certifications:
- Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
- American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED)
- First Aid
The certification must be reflected on your resume and uploaded at the time of application to be considered eligible for this position.
Maintains certifications current by recertifying with the American Red Cross Lifeguarding and 1st Aid, CPR/PR/AED program before the certification's expiration date.
Possesses one or more Instructor ratings:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGTI) authorization AND/OR
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor WSI) authorization AND/OR
- Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor (AEA) authorization AND/OR
- Adapted Aquatic Instructor authorization.
All of the above certifications/authorizations must be kept current.
This position is a Flexible (Flex) position and there are 0 guaranteed hours per week. Flex employees are not entitled to leave or benefits however, there is no upper limit to the number of hours a flexible employee may work (subject to overtime obligation and work scheduling requirements).
