Summary

This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resiliency and well-being of Soldiers and Families.

Duties

  • Assist manager by insuring adequate staffing of operations with personnel and the safety of users.
  • Performs checks and makes adjustments in water quality levels and that the pump rooms are maintained and operational.
  • Leads staff as required in the performance of their duties by providing coaching, directing, mentoring, training, monitoring and evaluating.
  • Attends and or arranges for the conduct of aquatics and safety training.
  • Conducts cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automatic external defibrillation, first aid, oxygen administration, and lifeguarding training.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
  • This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
  • Work schedule will be irregular. The incumbent will be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.
  • Must have a valid Lifeguard Instructor's certification by start of employment.
  • Must have a valid Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification by start of employment.
  • Must have a valid First Aid certification by start of employment.
  • Must have an automated external defibrillator (AED) certification by start of employment.
  • Must have an oxygen administration certification by start of employment.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following:
  • one (1) year work experience directly related to leading a staff of employees in support of recreational activities
    • OR
  • education directly related to leading a staff of employees in support of recreational activities,
    • AND
      • ability to use sound judgment, and
      • ability to accomplish tasks within established timeframes, and
      • possess good people skills that require the ability to communicate in a clear, concise and grammatically correct manner, and
      • experience with office functions such as preparing and managing reports, and
      • Possess a current Pool Operator's license (Must be uploaded at the time of application).

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are NOT authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is NOT in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Night differential has been authorized by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Bargaining NF & CY positions and will be paid at the rate of basic pay plus an additional 10 percent of that rate for all regular scheduled work between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (including periods of leave and holidays).
  • Sunday premium pay has been authorized by the Collective Bargaining Agreement for regular NF & CY bargaining employees and will be paid at the rate of 25% of the employee's basic rate of pay for all hours of a non-overtime tour of duty when any part of the scheduled tour is performed on Sunday (including periods of leave and holidays).
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will NOT be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will NOT be paid.
    • Payband employees in pay levels NF-3 and above and all CY employees, are entitled to receive nonforeign area allowances and differentials in the same amounts and under the same eligibility criteria prescribed for APF employees in the same locality.
