Duties
The major duties of the Lead Recreation Fee Technician position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide current and accurate information and excellent customer service to park visitors.
- Collect appropriate fees at the park entrance station in accordance with established accountability guidelines for handling government funds.
- Conduct fee compliance checks for visitor payment.
- Provide technical and policy direction according to agency fee management.
- Lead permanent (career-seasonal) and temporary employees on a regular and recurring basis in which the highest subordinate grade level is GS-05.

To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level:
- Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of specialized experience include handling, tracking and depositing monies; auditing fee collection and deposit procedures; assisting with scheduling and leading others involved in fee collection and visitor orientation programs; resolving issues that arise in the remittance process; and working with technology and software used in revenue and fee management. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Work Environment: This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station. Work is often performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone and/or in isolated locations.
