Duties

  • Provides technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public:
  • Registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes over-dues and reserves, assists with interlibrary loans and reserves, shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions, and assists customers in locating materials;
  • Provides technical services support in a variety of functions: basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials.
  • Assists in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories.
  • Performs simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A probation period of one year may be required.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • Incumbent may perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Qualifications

One (1) year of specialized experience performing the following duties:
  • Follow basic and well-established library procedures.
  • Perform duties related to circulation, acquisition, disposal of library materials.
  • Collection, maintenance and preservation of books.
Or

Two (2) years of education above high school level.

Or

A combination work experience and education that is equivalent to at least six (6) months of specialized experience performing the duties listed above and at least one (1) year of education above high school.

  • In NATO countries employment of non-US citizens under US conditions is restricted by the NATO SOFA to individuals who are nationals of a NATO country. These individuals may not be employed under US employment conditions in the country of their citizenship.
