SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Works under the supervision of the installation assigned Supervisory Librarian, Library Program Manager, or Supervisory Library Technician. The supervisor outlines objectives, priorities, and deadlines and provides guidance on dealing with unusually involved or one-of-a-kind situations. Incumbent independently plans and carries out the successive steps to complete library support duties and uses established library techniques and methods to resolve problems and deviations, such as materials that are difficult to locate or unusual error messages from automated systems. The supervisor reviews completed work for appropriateness, technical soundness, and conformity to policy and requirements. The work methods used are not normally reviewed in detail.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines are specific in nature and consist of procedural manuals, policies, regulations, instructions and directives from the DoD, DoN, and CNIC. The incumbent uses judgment to interpret guidelines, adapt procedures, decide approaches, and recommend solutions to specific problems including locating seldom used or obscure materials. The incumbent analyzes the results of applying guidelines and recommend changes. Incumbent is expected to perform daily work on own initiative and carry out assignments in accordance regulations.
COMPLEXITY
The work involves performing various duties involving the use of different and unrelated procedures and methods in support of library functions, such as acquisition, cataloging, reference, or circulation. The incumbent identifies the nature of the problem, questions, or issue, and determines the need for and obtains additional information through oral or written contacts and by reviewing operating procedures, library policies, and standard references. Assignments cover a number of tasks for which the incumbent assists library staff and library patrons to ensure the efficient and effective operation of library services and resources.

The purpose of the work is to provide programming, technical and administrative library support. Tasks performed support the work of other staff and the timely provision of information to patrons. Library programs directly contribute to patrons' morale, welfare, and total wellbeing. PERSONAL CONTACTS
Contacts are with MWR staff members, Operations Managers, MWR Directors, Regional Staff, DoD and DoN Officials, patrons, community officials, base security, contractors and others.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
Contacts are made to relay, coordinate and/or obtain information relating to library operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and driving. Ability to lift, pull, push and carry 45 pounds. Occasionally required to move heavier items.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a normal office setting. When working within the facility, the indoor work areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Outside work for some special events or projects may be required. Wears protective clothing and equipment as situations warrant.
OTHER FACTORS
Hours of work will vary as required by the needs of the program. Incumbent may be required to work early, late, and on weekends and holidays.
Position has been designated as Non-Sensitive. Incumbents must satisfactorily complete all child care background check requirements in accordance with DoDI 1402.05, to include Navy Installation Records Checks (IRCs) and a Child Care Tier 1 investigation processed through DCSA.
Incumbent may be required to work outside in inclement weather for special events and programs.
Must possess and maintain a valid and active U.S. driver's license to drive a government vehicle in the performance of duties.
