Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: United States Citizenship
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
- Education or Training: Must be a graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and/or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing at the time the program was completed by the applicant, or have you completed Health care education in the military service or training in the military service.
Grade Determinations: In addition to the basic requirements stated above, the following qualification criteria must be met for the
grade. The candidate's qualifications must clearly demonstrate the level of competence required for the grade.
The GS-7 grade level is for select, complex LPN/LVN positions. To be advanced, employees must meet all of the following standards, provided the standard is part of their assignment. (a) Completion of at least one (1) year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-6 level or equivalent, fully meeting all of the performance requirements for the GS-6 LPN/LVN. The Advanced Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse (LVN / LPN) GS-7 functions as a member of the health care team by demonstrating an exceptional degree of practical nursing knowledge and skills necessary for self-direction in carrying out complex practical nursing care assignments within their setting for a Veteran population with a variety of health care needs. The Advanced LVN / LPN successfully and consistently demonstrates independent technical judgment as well as comprehensive and thorough working knowledge of complex practices and procedures. Incumbent demonstrates knowledge, experience, skill, and self-motivation to carry out complex patient assignments, which include prioritization and coordination of clinical activities with minimal supervision. The incumbent provides a wide range of complex/specialized clinical and technical services that demonstrate complex technical judgement to assigned patients taking into consideration patients' ages, cultural backgrounds, education level, and any other special needs. The patient population is multi-faceted, including geriatric patients, patients from all war-time eras, female patients, and patients with complex psychiatric needs. The Advanced LVN / LPN completes assigned duties and responsibilities that involve performing non-standard and specialized practical nursing activities requiring broad nursing knowledge, experience, and skills to address a wide range of care needs. The LVN / LPN GS-7 Nurse reports directly to the Facility Telehealth Coordinator, Nurse Manager (FTC) or assigned supervisor. The incumbent works independently, with readily available guidance from an RN/HCP. Completed work requires only a general review by an RN/HCP for technical soundness, appropriateness and conformity to policy and accepted nursing standards.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-07. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is a GS- 07.
