Summary

Serves as a Light and Sound Operator in the Banquet Set-Up Department of the Hale Koa Hotel.

The first cut-off date will be on 10/11/2024. Additional lists will be pulled after this first cut-off date at the request of the hiring manager.

Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered.

Duties

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Work is performed under general supervision while setting up, testing, operating and making minor repairs to equipment such as microphones, sound controls, sound recording equipment, lighting and sound effects devices and public address system equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES: Operates lighting systems, including complex light control boards, spotlights, and backdrop color variance. Also operates the audio system within the same entertainment area, including the audio mixing console, microphone correlation and speaker output. Assist the Entertainment Director or any technical personnel in the setting up of special lighting and/or audio equipment. Performs minor repairs or replaces faulty equipment. Reports equipment requiring major repair or replacement, to management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Skilled in the operation of very complex sound (audio) and lighting systems in the entertainment areas. Knowledge in light control boards, spotlights, backdrop color variance, audio mixing console, microphone correlation, and speaker output. Possess sufficient knowledge of the internal parts of projectors and their interplay to be able to troubleshoot malfunctions and quickly make corrections.
RESPONSIBILITY: The supervisor provides general instructions concerning work to be done and requirement of the overall work layout. Quality of work and overall performance is evaluated based on services provided, customer reports/complaints and completeness of work performed.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Physical effort is required in lifting, carrying, loading and unloading equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Position requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying in the performance of duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS: May work outside or inside. Works in areas that may be dusty, drafty, cramped areas or low overheads. There is some possibility of cuts and bruises to fingers while performing these tasks.
