Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
OR
To be minimally qualified for the position, you must meet the Basic Requirement (Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) in addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, education requirements or combination of education and specialized experience as stated below.
Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated competence in agricultural, commercial, realty, or other types of loans. Experience may have been gained in such work as reviewing and passing upon applications for agricultural, commercial, bank or mortgage loans; servicing a loan portfolio of a bank or other loan association; performing financial analysis of commercial concerns for investment purposes; appraising real estate to determine property valuation; or similar work.
Experience:
To receive credit, you must indicate the
month and year as well as the
average hours worked per week for each employer.
Average work hours must be stated on the resume to quantify each period of work experience or that experience will not be credited toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
You must address the
specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated
"Ineligible" for that grade level.
GS-11: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:
- Making recommendations or decisions to approve or decline residential and business loans.
- Evaluating credit histories to determine credit worthiness of individuals and businesses.
- Analyzing federal tax returns and financial statements such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets and business plans to determine repayment ability for individuals and business loan applicants.
- Processing loan applications using web-based financial/lending software to underwrite loans.
- Evaluate assets to determine best available collateral such as real estate and general security interest to secure a loan.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
