To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Assessing the effectiveness and quality of complex logistics support plans, annexes and exercise scenarios used in contingencies.
- Preparing Situation Reports (SITREPs), point papers, trip reports and staff reports, and other related planning documentation.
- Organizing and presenting recommendations and program changes relating to the planning cycle.
- Engaging in all phases of the planning process to augment a full range of logistical troop support, medical, services, construction and engineering capabilities.
- Utilizing knowledge of relevant logistical policies and service regulations to conduct all phases of plan development.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands
Work will primarily be sedentary in nature; however, some physical labor may be required during deployments with regards to arranging living quarters and reconstitution of base labor camp sites. Incumbent should be able to perform light to moderate physical labor under these conditions.
Work Environment
Work will primarily be performed in an office setting/environment with some international travel involved. Incumbent should be able to obtain an official passport in order to perform these missions.
Pay Retention
Pay Retention will be extended to an eligible employee who applies through a formal recruitment program and is selected for a position at an overseas location.

Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for early intervention services (EIS) will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
