- Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) one (1) year 1 day by a current permanent Army employee.
- Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
- Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Inspect as a MACHINIST I have the ability to perform common Machining, using various techniques, materials, jigs, and fixtures common to the trade. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly informed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort:
Work is performed in sitting and standing positions. Incumbent is also required to stand stoop, bend and reach. Occasionally is required
to lift items weighing 15-25 pounds. Requires manual dexterity and deftness when performing many of the required operations.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in shop that is well lighted, heated, cooled and ventilated. Incumbent is subject to hazardous fumes and burns when
working with high temperature coatings and furnaces. Incumbent is required to wear safety goggles, face shields, respirators and heat resistant
gloves when working with heat treated or high temperature coated components. Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable odors
and there is danger to skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles and hot metal, skin irritation from contact with coolants,
lubricants and abrasive compounds.
Ensures that hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled/processed within operating guidelines. Guidance for the proper
handling of hazardous materials/waste is obtained through formal training efforts and specific guidance issued by the supervisor.
Ensures that storage drums, and other containers housing hazardous materials/waste are properly labeled and secured at all times and
reports any deficiencies to the supervisor. Properly disposes of hazardous materials/waste used/generated at work site. Immediately
notifies supervisor of any accident or spill and initiates response actions as directed by supervisor. Since exposure to hazardous
materials/waste is possible, wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator,
etc.) as situations warrant.
