Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to perform common Maintenance Worker (MVO) tasks, such as: 1) performing ground keeping and/or building work repairs; 2) moving bulky items such as equipment and materials to, from, and within various buildings; and 3) operating motor vehicles in performance of these duties. Use hand and power tools for roofing, carpentry, and painting work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Stands, walks, and bends while performing the work. Lifts and carries equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds. The work requires considerable physical effort for long periods in handling materials and operating equipment.
- Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. Subject to injury from handling equipment, burns, fumes, noise, falls, cuts, dirt, and grease. May be required to wear protective clothing and equipment.
