Duties
1. Locksmith: Maintains, adjusts, repairs, troubleshoots and installs a wide variety of commercially manufactured locking devices including electrical and or mechanical locks such as combination, cipher, cylinder/core and push bar locks. Maintains control of all cylinder and core magnetic keys (i.e., "dog tag" keys). Makes flute steel, duplicate bit, cylinder and double-sided keys by impression or duplication methods and re-issues keys to different doors in the hotel due to damage or loss by the authorized key holder. Provides emergency lock services for incidents requiring entrance into rooms, and any other area or equipment that is secured using a key, cipher or electronic lock.
2. Keeps records and related documentation and/or log books for all lock systems and is responsible for specified accountable property items in conjunction with locksmith duties.
3. Electrical: Makes non-complex/routine repairs by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures such as broken and bare wiring, burned out switches and relays, loose connections and fittings, damaged light fixtures, and poorly operating thermostats.
4. Air Conditioning: Performs routine preventive maintenance work from work orders and instructions and emergency calls as required. The work involves troubleshooting or recognizing the causes of faulty equipment, and making repairs on a variety of non-complex systems and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems. Replaces filters as required or as preventive maintenance.
5. Plumbing: Checks for leaks, clears stoppages in drain Pipes; disassembles and repairs damaged sections; or repairs and replaces toilets, faucets, sinks, shower stalls, tiles, and showerheads. Repairs or replaces equipment already in place, such as water heaters and sections of pipe and tile, by following previously used routes, openings, hangers, and levels, and then re-connecting units to already-installed systems. Tests for proper operation.
6. PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work requires lifting or carrying of items weighing in excess of 50 pounds and heavier items with assistance. Frequently stands, stoops, bends, kneels, and works in awkward positions when troubleshooting and repairing locks and devices on-site.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed inside in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Occasionally work is done outside in bad weather or in areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises. Exposed to the possibility of burns while using acetylene torches, brazing torches, and soldering irons.
