This position is located at Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Sicily, Italy. First commissioned in June 1959 as a Naval Air Facility (NAF) and later redesignated as a Naval Air Station, NAS Sigonella is known as the "Hub of the Med," providing operational, command and control, and logistical support to US and NATO forces. The installation is uniquely split into two main areas: NAS I, which serves as the primary community support hub containing the Navy Exchange, Commissary, DoD schools, and the US Naval Hospital; and NAS II, which contains the active airfield and main operational commands. Situated in the Catania plain in the shadow of Mount Etna, the base operates in a Mediterranean climate under a host-nation agreement with Italy. https://cnreurafcent.cnic.navy.mil/Installations/NAS-Sigonella/About/History/
