Summary

You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the MECHANICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

  • You will assign subordinate personnel within established quality and technical requirements and control.
  • You will assign work to subordinates either by oral or written instructions.
  • You will enforce safety, fire, radiological and other regulations and maintain good housekeeping in work areas supervised.
  • You will review safety performance of subordinates and initiate corrective action as required.

*Reviews upcoming workload as estimates/requisitions, the consumable materials, special tooling and equipment needed to accomplish the work.
*Recommend new equipment/tooling and work processes/procedures that increase efficiency and improve the safety posture of the detachment.
*Ensures the proper safety equipment is available and arranges for the provision of necessary personal protective equipment.
*Plans division of workload among employees based on capabilities of employees, materials, equipment, weather conditions, shift, and priority of projects.
