This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
On occasion, assemblies weighing up to 40 pounds may require lifting. There will be occasions when it will be necessary to climb ladders and stairs both internal and external to buildings or equipment. A considerable amount of walking, stooping and bending for extended periods may be required in the performance of the job. Work includes the ability to drive a car or van, climb and walk up ladders to overhead cranes, climb ladders on portal cranes, crawl through work spaces, work in tight quarters and damp areas, and in close proximity to moving machinery. Must have good eyesight and hearing (correctable with vision and hearing aids).
Work external to the complex and some travel may be required for the purpose of system familiarization, meetings, equipment/component testing, and acceptance. Required to visit job sites in the vicinity of rotating, high pressure, high temperature, and high voltage equipment. Work on high roofs, trusses, towers, elevated structures, and subsurface structures is required. May be exposed to dangers of falling from high elevations, electrical shock, smoke, and temperature extremes. Outdoor work is required, and adverse weather must be faced. Uncomfortable conditions such as dampness, dirt, poor illumination, and noise are to be expected in the routine accomplishments of duties. Exposure to radiation also exists, and the wearing of a TLD Is required to detect exposure. May be required to inspect and test units located in hazardous locations and during hazardous operations (i.e., torpedo magazines, nuclear staging areas). Personnel will be performing tasks at heights requiring the use of fall protection equipment. Only users within the capacity range d 125 to 310 pounds can qualify to utilize fall protection equipment.
Registration as a professional engineer is desirable, but not mandatory.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
