General Experience: Possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position
MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-05 (Trainee): Must have at least 6 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, jeeps, and station wagons which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds). Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade.
MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-06 (Trainee): Must have at least 9 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, ambulances or patient transport vehicles, passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds) and up to 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds). Experience demonstrating the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on one or more classes of motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans crew cab pickup trucks and HUMVEE. Experience to start, stop and maneuver assigned equipment. Experience annotating logs and records.
MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-07: Must have at least 12 months experience operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds such as aircraft refueling tractor trailers, truck tractors with semi or full trailers, heavy load in-line trucks, or interstate motor coaches; Broad knowledge of organizational practices and activities and skill in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments, and the ability to identify, analyze and resolve transportation issues or problems; Operating electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork-lift (lifting loads weighting 10,000 lbs or more that are higher then 168"), and other material handling equipment; Operating one or more types of trucks such as pickup, panel, and flatbed trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less, on local and public roads at highway speeds.
TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not meeting full qualifications for the WG-07 position indicated above may be considered for WG-05 or WG-06 trainee, if qualified. Statement-of-Difference of qualification requirements for each are indicated. If appointed as trainee, the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to WG-07 upon meeting full qualifications and recommendations of supervisor.
