Duties

  • You will operate a heavy vehicle in excess of 32,000 lbs., such as a tractor-trailer or truck and full trailer combinations in a safe manner.
  • You will transport personnel or cargo on extended trips.
  • You will utilize global positioning systems and road maps.
  • You will load, unload, arrange, and secure cargo to prevent overloading and shifting in transit.

  • This position requires travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You must be able to read and speak fluent English.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing minor repairs or adjustments on oversized vehicles; 2) Maneuvering oversized vehicles in narrow, congested areas, through difficult metropolitan traffic, and on high-speed highways; 3) Operating lighter vehicles such as: buses, dump trucks, carry-all's, platform trucks, stake trucks, and vans; and 4) Safely transporting cargo and passengers.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. You may be required to work overtime or on rotating shifts.
