Duties

Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list

As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC) (T32), WG-5703-9, you will:

  • Serves as a Small Shop Chief.
  • Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s).
  • Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished.
  • Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements.
  • Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance.
  • Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
  • Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
  • Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Compatible Military Assignments: CMF 91, MOS: 25B, 36B, 51C, 88M/N, 89A/B, 92A/F/G/Y.

  • Military membership in the Utah National Guard is mandatory.

  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
  • CDL Preferred.
  • Pending analysis, you may be required to complete a new 1-year probationary period when moved to this position IAW CNGBI 1400.25

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must possess experience which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations.
