Summary

This National Guard position is for a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1910000and is part of the USPFO (Warehouse) in Draper, for the Utah Army National Guard.

The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Mr. Randy Jasperson.

Duties

Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list

As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (SSC) (TITLE 32), WG-5703-9, you will:

  • Serves as a Small Shop Chief.
  • Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s).
  • Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished.
  • Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements.
  • Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance.
  • Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
  • Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision.
  • Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Compatible Military Assignments: CMF 91, MOS: 25B, 36B, 51C, 88M/N, 89A/B, 92A/F/G/Y.

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
  • CDL Preferred.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire.
  • Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
  • Indefinite positions may be converted to permanent status without further competition.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations.
