Conditions of employment
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License up to 1 ton
- Frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms where the parts of the systems worked on are frequently in hard-to-reach places.
- Stoops, stretches, bends and kneels for long periods of time
- Work is performed inside and occasionally outside, frequently in cramped and awkward positions; shop area is usually adequately heated and ventilated.
- Work is frequently dirty and greasy, variable temperatures occur when working in cold storage rooms; is subject to possible injuries such as cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock, possible respiratory disorders due to inhalation of refrigerant gases
Qualifications
Four years of general experience in the field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration repairs is desired. EPA certified, CAT I,II, and III.
Ability to read/interpret wiring and blueprints. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Have ability to use hand tools such as hammers, saws, wrenches, etc. Must have knowledge of refrigeration cycle of a commercial and industrial system to locate and checks elements such as low side and high side pressure, the temperature of the cooling units, the temperatures of the liquid and suction lines; and the running time of the various mechanisms.
Must know the principles and theories of air conditioning and refirgeration; such as refrigeration cycle, heat transfer laws, the use of refrigerant tables, how to calculate airflow, and the pressure- temperature characterisitcs for the different systems in order to locate and repair faulty equipemtn
