Summary
This position is in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the golf program which consists of 1-18 hole golf course, 1 golf pro shop, 1 driving ranges, locker rooms, golf cart rental, cart storage, starters, course marshals, club rentals, resale operations, tournament play and special events. Incumbent is assigned to the Sea N Air Golf Course.
Duties
Assists in managing and supervising the golf pro shop, driving range, golf cart rentals, cart storage, starters, course marshals, club rentals, resale operation, tournament play and special events. Assists with coordinating, planning, developing and executing special events such as golf field days, tournaments, special promotions, leagues and related events.
Assists in assuring adequate stock levels, requisitions merchandise such as: golf equipment, mens' and ladies' apparel, range balls, tees, etc. Ensures timely stock replenishment of merchandise and/or special orders, following established procedures. Participates in inventories maintaining reports and records. Ensures proper display, pricing and sale of a wide assortment of merchandise. Operates cash register, receives payments and makes change. Completes daily activity reports (DAR) and ensures proper deposit of cash receipts.
Responsible for maintaining a reservation system in compliance with established practices, policies and local instructions. Monitors and reviews procedures to ensure fairness and courtesy, informs supervisor of problems or concerns. Ensures priority is given to all active duty military, reserve personnel and retirees. Resolves complaints promptly and fairly. Ensures customer understanding and compliance with the operational and safety requirements of golf carts.
Assists in promoting Golf Program. Publicizes activities, ensuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants and in providing the widest possible range of activities in terms of interest and needs.
Ensures the Golf Manager is apprised of developments within the Golf Operations. Assist in staffing, effective training and supervision of subordinate employees; informs staff of required operational policies. Assist in evaluating staff performance, notifies supervisor of disciplinary problem prior to taking action and recommends other appropriate personnel actions.
Assist Manager with the golf budget. Ensures financial integrity is maintained for the operation and required reports and records are properly maintained. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment.
Performs housekeeping duties ensuring cleanliness of facility. Conducts inspections of facility to ensure safety and cleanliness. Establishes and maintains an adequate safety program to ensures compliance with fire, safety and security regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- The work requires standing, sitting, walking and lifting 50 pounds or more while performing duties.
- Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends and holidays when the need arises.
Qualifications
- Three years' experience in a Golf Pro Shop environment.
- PGA Apprentice or PGA Member in good standing with the PGA of America required.
- Possess an extensive and detailed knowledge golf pro shop operations, principles and practices.
- Must have knowledge of golf equipment and apparel.
- Knowledge and ability of inventory procedures and controls.
- Ability and knowledge of merchandise and visual displays.
- Knowledge in the principles of accounting, budget preparation, forecast needs.
- Ability to plan assigns and supervises subordinate employees.
- Ability to maintain reports and records.
- Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions and judgment based upon facts.
- Must be able to present and sell ideas and plans.
- Must be able to encourage participation in MWR golf programs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
