Summary

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Base San Diego (NBSD). Incumbent is responsible for directing the day-to-day property custody and control of property and assets.

Duties

  • Responsible for directing the day-to-day property custody and control, not limited to receiving, checking, handling, storing physical control and distribution of NAF and APF property according to established procedures.
  • Takes an active part in physical inventory of equipment or other materials, reconciling inventory or property record balances after completion of the inventory. Works with Regional Accounting Office and local facility managers for correction of routine discrepancies such as errors in recording stock or in properly identifying equipment.
  • Maintains an accurate accounting and reporting system for non-expendable property. Conducts management studies on the utilization of property, reviews records and demand data for determination of property which has become obsolete or excess, offers recommendations for utilization of excess items, and locates surplus property that can be utilized.
  • Has inventory management responsibility for items which are decentralized throughout the organization and controlled locally.
  • Responsible for proper disposal of all MWR property. Property is either brought to a designated location or is picked up for disposal.
  • Utilizes a one and one quarter truck with manual transmission and a forklift to relocate materials and equipment.
  • Maintains open and completed files and takes inventory of items at required intervals.
  • Submits paperwork to Regional Accounting Office and follows up to ensure that items have been removed from the inventory list.
  • Ensures compliance with fires, safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift license within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to drive a 1-1/4-ton truck with manual transmission.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
