Qualifications
Incumbent must have, as a minimum, a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field, or have equivalent work experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of fitness, sports and aquatic policies, requirements, administrative practices and procedures related to the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating of sports and fitness programs and to the efficient operation and utilization of facilities and equipment. Skill in negotiating program issues and operational requirements with personnel inside and outside the local installation, community organizations and patrons.
Ability to effectively direct and coordinate the functions of several recreation facilities and activities, diverse in nature.
Knowledge and skill in directing the application of sports, fitness or recreation management principles, concepts and methodology to a variety of unconventional unusually difficult and complex assignments involving the full range of recreation activities including operations and maintenance, financial management, assignment, utilization, improvements, management-patron relations, merchandise and equipment management.
Ability to develop local procedures and policies based on the effective interpretation of DON/DOD regulations. Effective written and oral communication skills enabling effective communication with higher rank civilian and military officials.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field, or have equivalent work experience.
