Summary

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee various functions going on in the facility to ensure that established policies and procedure are followed and to repair and maintain bowling equipment. Incumbent is assigned to the Admiral Robinson, Naval Base San Diego

Duties

  • Reviews the schedule of functions that are to take place during the assigned shift.
  • Ensures that necessary supplies and equipment are available, room arrangement is completed and activities are operating as scheduled. Calls and schedules staff as necessary to meet the needs of the facility. Works with staff to ensure planned events take place as scheduled.
  • Monitors operations of facility or assigned areas of responsibility, periodically checking to identify and resolve problems that may arise. Circulates around facility, maintains proper order, warning customer of disruptive behavior.
  • Enforces facility rules. Explains and enforces admittance policies to ensure that patrons are authorized to use the facility. In cases of deviation from usual operation, policy or procedures, brings situation to the attention of the Facility Operations Manager. Maintains a logbook with record of all significant occurrences during the shift.
  • Responsible for the issue of change funds and control of cash. May make unscheduled cash counts. Enters records and reports on PC computer. Assures all personnel clock in and out properly.
  • Insures that change machines have adequate change.
  • Prior to closing building completes fire safety checks making certain that ash trays/trash receptacles are emptied and that unnecessary electrical equipment is unplugged. Secure all doors and windows, checks all locks on storerooms, cashier's office, and other spaces required to be locked. Sets security alarm system.
  • Performs other related or incidental duties as assigned. May assist with special events as needed.

  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.

Qualifications

  • Possess a fine sense of public and customer relations.
  • Knowledge of military club operation, regulations and techniques pertaining to private parties.
  • Skill to communicate effectively and the tact to deal capably and diplomatically with superiors, peers, subordinates and customers.
  • Be capable of handling monies attend MWR Cash Handling Training within first 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to use PC computers and knowledge of various software programs.
  • Be able to account for materials, equipment and money placed in care.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience which provides knowledge of club, restaurant, business operations, or equivalent leadership experience.

All individuals involved in the provision of child care services on a Department of Navy (DON) installation or in a DON-sanctioned program must complete the Installation Records Check (IRC). The IRC includes a check of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) records in the Alcohol and Drug Management Information Tracking System (ADMITS) database, a check of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) records in the Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS), and an installation security/base check via the Navy Justice Information System (NJIS) database and/or other law enforcement systems. This information will be used to determine suitability for the applicant in accordance with criteria for automatic and presumptive disqualifiers, per DoDI 1402.05.

Per Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.05. Background Checks on Individuals in DoD Child Care Services Programs, incumbents will be automatically disqualified for a conviction in either civilian or military court (to include any general, special, or summary court-martial conviction or if they received non-judicial punishment [under Article 15 or chapter 47 of Title 10, U.S.C]) for any of the following: a sexual offense, any criminal offense involving a child victim, or a felony drug offense. Additionally, the incumbent will be automatically disqualified if he/she has been held to be negligent in a civil adjudication or administrative proceeding concerning the death of or serious injury to a child or dependent person entrusted to the individual's care.

Non-U.S. citizens with fewer than three years of recent residential history in the U.S. may be determined ineligible for employment.
