Job Description (Please follow all instructions carefully)

Summary

This position is located at Community Recreation aboard Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties necessary for the maintenance of the grounds and outside of buildings.

Duties

  • This position maintains appearance of external areas of buildings, to include walkways, entryways, paths, sidewalks and driveways.
  • Removes weeds and unwanted plants from cracks, joints and crevices.
  • May assist with maintenance and care of building exteriors as needed as well as gardening, and general care of grounds. This includes lawn maintenance and operation of equipment such as hand mowers, standing mowers, weed cutters and a variety of hand tools to perform grounds maintenance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds without assistance and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.

Qualifications

Must have knowledge of seasonal gardening tasks and procedures as well as environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safely.

Ability to detect plant diseases and use a variety of hand and power operated tools.

Minimum of 6 months experience in basic grounds and building maintenance is preferred.

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English.

Education

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
