Conditions of employment
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Some sitting, standing, walking, and driving of vehicles, are required in overseeing program and facilities
- physical demands include: Stooping, stretching, and twisting when demonstrating physical techniques, teaching a fitness class or sports indoctrinations.
- Varied work schedules are used to agree with special sporting events and sports tournaments
- Due to outdoor events and aquatic operations incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures at various periods of time
Qualifications
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of activities, interest and needs at the military community to plan and conduct programs, which will attract a maximum number of participants.
- Knowledge of NCAA, AAU, ASA rules and Navy and Armed Forces instruction of sports and athletic programs.
- Skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage financial and physical resources.
- Knowledge of personal physical fitness to include but not limited to basic anatomy, cardiovascular system, aerobics and aqua aerobics/anaerobic exercise and be proficient in formulating both personal and group physical fitness programs for a vast section of the military community.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally it in writing.
- Ability to supervise, direct and motivate employees to obtain maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Must be knowledgeable in non- appropriated (NAF) personnel instructions and must be able to apply them while handling routine to complex personal issues.
- Must have ability and knowledge to deal with personal actions in a logical way that would be satisfying to both management and personnel involved.
Education
Knowledge of athletics, fitness, sports and related safety programs that would be obtained with completion of a four-year degree in athletics or related field of a minimum of four years of progressive experience in the athletic/recreation arena.

Executive Order 12564 requires a Federal workplace free of illegal drugs. According to the Executive Order, all Federal employees are required to remain drug free throughout their employment. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Note: When submitting transcripts for an Associate degree or higher, proof of a high school diploma or equivalent is not required. All transcripts MUST show student's name, the name of the awarding university or educational institution, degree type, awarded/conferred date, and the field of study (major). If your degree has not been awarded and/or you possess certificates of completion for DoD approved competency-based training courses, and/or a valid CDA/MSA credential(s), you MUST also provide a copy of your HS Diploma or equivalent. Altered transcripts will not be accepted.
Transcripts from foreign colleges must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered. Applicants are responsible to obtain and submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency which is a private U.S. organization. Credential evaluations are not free and applicants are responsible for the cost of the selected service.
Foreign high school transcripts or diplomas do not require credential evaluation but must be in English or a certified translation.
