Qualifications
To qualify for a Maintenance Mechanic Leader, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and that you have the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Physical Effort: Must be capable of working from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms in cramped or hard-to-get places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Handles materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally over 75 pounds. Must be capable of wearing all safety equipment and personal protective clothing required to perform assigned tasks.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside, in cold damp, dust warehouses, crawl spaces, etc. incumbent is subject to cuts, bruises, broken bones, etc., while performing work.The incumbent of this position has been designated as an emergency employee. The term "Emergency Employee" is used to designate those employees who must report to work in emergency situations. Emergency dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to these employees. The employees who occupy these positions may be required to report for duty in any situation that prevents significantnumbers of employees in the local area from reporting for work on time or which requires agencies to close all or part of their activities.
Selective Placement Factor: Must possess valid state driver's license and be capable of operating government vehicles from 1/2 ton to 1 1/2 ton trucks.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
