Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic (Public Notice Flyer) without more than normal supervision. Performing maintenance and repair of buildings, structures and fixtures including carpentry (repairing and replacing flooring, sheet rock, roofing, door jambs and window sills); plumbing (repairing and replacing lavatories, commodes, sinks and disposals); electrical (replacing fixtures, receptacles, switches). - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Frequently lifts and carries materials and equipment weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Is required to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb ladders and scaffolds, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Works inside and outside, occasionally in unheated buildings or outside in inclement weather. Is exposed to dirt, dust, grease, foul odors, paint fumes. Is subject to cuts and bruises and from hand and powered tools, minor electric shock, and danger of falls from ladders.
