Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor ~ without more than normal supervision: ?perform duties such as: determining sequence, priorities or deadlines of scheduled assignments; estimating material,
equipment or manpower needs; observing tasks in progress or upon completion; initiating personnel actions; reviewing
disciplinary actions; hearing or resolving grievances; or evaluating performance of subordinates, and giving advice or
instruction to employees on work or administrative matters. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and where parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 75 pounds and occasionally handles heavier items, usually with assistance of another person or of mechanical devices.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. The work is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Exposed to mud, water, and fumes. Frequently exposed to the possibility of scrapes, burns, and infections from unsanitary work sites. Incumbent has occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat, and safety shoes are required. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn. Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
