There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. Applicants' resume should document their ability to perform repairs on targets at ranges and transporting materials to/from ranges to be considered. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Must have full use of both hands, arms and legs. Makes repairs in hard-to-get places. Work requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching. Work requires uncomfortable and tiring positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing 60-100 pounds or more with assistance. Must maintain fitness to walk covering distances up to 8 kilometers (approximately 5 miles) carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in shop and on ranges with exposure to rain, heat, cold, dirt, dust, grease, noise, odor, smoke and fumes. Work is subject to rotational shifts, as required, to provide 24 hour range support during training exercises. Worker is subject to cuts from hand or power tools and danger from flying splinters, chips and sawdust. Incumbent is also subject to electrical shock and burns when using electrical equipment or performing maintenance.
