This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Candidates must have the ability to perform common Maintenance Worker tasks such as: the use and operation of common hand and power tools, equipment, and/or measuring devices of the carpentry, plumbing, and/or painting trades. Must have the ability to detect simple deficiencies and perform simple preventive maintenance tasks and have the ability to work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Requires standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting. Performs digging work and loads and unloads supplies and equipment. Uses heavy chains to place buoys courtesy docks and removing trees. Handles heavy or awkward items with assistance of hoisting equipment or is aided by other employees. On occasion, the above tasks will be done while wearing protective gear restricting the employee's movement and ability to perform routine functions.
- Working Conditions: Works outside in all types of weather, frequently in wet, icy, muddy and dirty conditions. Exposed to frequent sun and noise and other environmental conditions. Also exposed to cuts and bruises in using tools and working near moving machinery, strains while using heavy tools and equipment, slips and falls in wet or icy weather and from hoisting equipment, and the possibility of electric shock and burns. Danger of drowning exists when working over water.
