This position will be filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority. Eligibility is limited to applicants who reside within the defined local commuting area at the time of application. For this announcement, the local commuting area is the area from which individuals can reasonably commute to the duty station under normal conditions. The defined vicinity for this position is: 75 miles of Klamath Falls, OR. You must provide proof of residency within the defined vicinity (e.g. mortgage or property deed, lease/rental agreement, utility bill, insurance policy, etc.). Physical Demands: Routinely lifts, moves, and carries loads up to 50 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts andmoves heavier objectives with assistance (e.g., hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand,stoop, bend, kneel and crawl for extended periods, and to climb up and down slopes or rockyinclines. Works in cramped, tiring, and uncomfortable positions, on ladders and scaffolds, andwhile material is on supports. Physical exertion is needed to change water releases from storage and distribution systems
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain,wind, snow, ice). Field work is performed on earth canal slopes, near fast moving water, onirregular terrain concealed by weeds and debris, on elevated pump station decks and dams, andsimilar situations. Occasionally operates or works from an open boat or raft. Work involvesregular exposure to dirt, dust and grease, and the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks,burns, cuts bruises, maimed fingers, and scrapes. Protective clothing is typically worn inappropriate circumstances (e.g., coveralls, hardhat, gloves, safety goggles, hearing protection,boots)

As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1 year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
