Duties

  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform custodial services.
  • Maintain daily log.
  • Assist in installation, repair, replacement, maintenance and inspection of playground equipment.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a valid, state-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
  • Employee will be required to wear maintenance uniform during duty hours.
  • This is a drug test designated position.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Incumbent must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Seasonal employees are subject to periodic layoff and recall. The incumbent is required to sign a Seasonal Employment Agreement as a condition of employment.
  • Employees are required to observe established safe working procedures.
  • Drives a personal or government vehicle (passenger or small pick-up) to travel to and from site visits. Travels on public roads and highways in all kinds of weather.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform a full range of maintenance duties associated with a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other trades appropriate to this position.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Uses hand and power tools and equipment that may require standing and holding tools in uncomfortable positions for extended periods. The work requires considerable bending, kneeling, climbing, and stooping. On site work requires strenuous physical exertion when handling heavy and bulky materials. Work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing on ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and rooftops. Frequently lifts and carries material and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy, with spray and fumes possibly present. May work in confined areas, such as crawl spaces and attics. In shops, is exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, sawdust in the air, glue, fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment including hazardous of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. The employee is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in all types of weather. The employee is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, contusions, burns, and infections. May occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones and electrical shock or burns. Protective equipment and clothing, such as safety shoes, earplugs, safety glasses or sunglasses, gloves, rain gear, hard hats, coveralls, respirators, and other protective gear are required, which are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
