Summary

Duties

  • Maintains recreational areas by performing daily cleaning and policing of recreational facilities. Required to operate up to 1-ton trucks. Performs operational maintenance on park vehicles and equipment.
  • Cleans public latrines, party pavilions, and other facilities. Replaces towels and tissue and empties trash containers. Scrubs sinks, floors, and other fixtures. Picks up trash around the grounds.
  • Weeds flowerbeds, prunes shrubs and trees, clear scrub trees and brush, waters grass, trees and plants.
  • Sets up and maintains recreational equipment such as water sprinklers, picnic tables, barbecue grills, park benches, playground equipment, trash containers, etc.
  • Provides assistance to patrons by answering questions about facilities, giving directional information, setting up camping/party/playground areas. Performs routine repairs and maintenance on park equipment.
Working conditions: Work is performed in a variety of settings inside and outside, but primarily outdoors in heat, cold, and occasionally bad weather. Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, fumes, noise, jolting etc, while performing grounds maintenance duties.

  • A probation period of one year may be required.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license. Must successfully complete a post defensive driving course.
  • Due to requirement in operating a vehicle, the position is subject to mandatory drug testing.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Must be able to carry equipment, tools or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds (lb).

Qualifications

  • Must have prior work experience performing the following duties:
  1. Driving lawn tractors and using tools and equipment normally found in maintaining grounds, facilities, and equipment, as listed in the duties above.
  2. Operating vehicles such as riding lawnmowers, garden tractors, push mowers, edgers, chainsaws, blowers, weed eaters, pruners, while performing operator's maintenance and complying with safety and traffic rules and regulations.
  • Must have the ability to perform a variety of laborer, custodial, gardening, driving, and park maintenance duties with minimal supervision.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
