Duties

  • Performs a variety of trades and craft duties involving maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities.
  • Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry, painting, and laboring work.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors and exteriors. Carries, lifts and holds materials in position during the repair operation.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repair of the grounds. Cuts grass, plants, trims hedges, trees and shrubbery. Dumps trash, waters plants and sweeps walkways and may be required to shovel snow.
  • The incumbent may be required to operate a ½ Ton up to 1 Ton motor vehicle to and from worksite to transport material and personnel and prepares trip tickets, performs driver's daily maintenance and reports any major repairs needed to supervisor.
  • Frequently stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May carry equipment, tools or supplies weighing from 40 to 80 pounds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience in performing duties as described and the ability to follow oral and written instructions involving those duties. If the position requires the incumbent to operate a vehicle. The incumbent must have a valid driver's license.

HIGHLY PREFERRED:
  1. Has experience in installing fences
  2. Is proficient at driving and backing up trailers

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
