This position will be filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority. Eligibility is limited to applicants who reside within the defined local commuting area at the time of application. For this announcement, the local commuting area is the area from which individuals can reasonably commute to the duty station under normal conditions. Field Unit Local Hiring is defined as the following counties: Gallatin County, MT; Park County, MT; Park County, WY, Sublette County, WY, Teton County, WY or Fremont County, ID. Physical Demands: The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with heavier items moved using assistance or mechanical devices. The incumbent operates commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, and power tools, requiring good coordination and manual dexterity. Emergency operations may require prolonged physical exertion and extended work hours.
Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, snow, rain, and rough terrain. The incumbent is exposed to hazards associated with operating vehicles, heavy equipment, power tools, chemicals, and construction or maintenance activities and must wear appropriate personal protective equipment. The position may require emergency response outside normal work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
