This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.
A Recruitment Incentive May Be Authorized for a newly selected employee when appointed to a permanent, temporary, or term position. A Federal employee who is transferring to the National Park Service from another component, bureau or Federal agency and who does not meet the conditions under 5 CFR §575.102 is not eligible for a recruitment incentive.
A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.
Physical Demands: Employee will at times be required to wear protective equipment such as respirator, hearing protection, hard hat, clothing and eye protection and must meet physical requirements to do so. Occasionally must lift and handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to reach, stretch, bend, turn and move body, hands, arms, feet and legs to accomplish work. Must be capable of climbing difficult trails, requiring use of both hands and both feet. Able to negotiate trails with slippery rock foot and hand holds and steep cliff exposure to potential falls.
Working Conditions: Work sites will range from office settings to outdoor temperature extremes of -10 degrees F in the winter and +90 degrees Fin the summer. Employee will at times be exposed to adverse temperatures and weather conditions such as blowing snow and driving rain. The work site can be dusty, contain fumes and other hazardous materials. Subject to cuts, flying splinters and chips, and injury from power and hand tools.
During the winter season and as required, incumbent performs a variety of duties such as assisting with other maintenance work, tree and brush trimming, equipment maintenance, snow removal, and general maintenance.
The incumbent occasionally performs duties normally assigned to subordinates while working alongside crews or during their absence and participates on various park committees or groups as assigned.
Work requires the employee to drive vehicles. A valid state driver's license is required. This is a uniformed position.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Documentation for the
Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility,
submission of ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for
each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s).
