Summary

About the Position: You will serve as Maintenance & Operations Supervisor Supervising 2 powerplant crews under the supervision of the Power Plant Superintendent with responsibility for supervising the maintenance and operation of the hydroelectric power plant, switchyard, transformer banks, water control structures, maintenance installations, including the modification, repair and testing of all mechanical and electrical equipment located at the power plant.

Duties

  • Provide personnel management functions for a subordinate staff of 10-15 employees including Power Plant Trainees, Senior Power Plant Mechanics, Electricians and Electronic Mechanics, their subordinate Journeymen, and Laborers.
  • Direct the operations and maintenance of the power plant, switchyard, project power facilities, and associated features.
  • Direct operations, maintenance, repair, modification installation and testing of all mechanical, electrical, electronics, power plant control system and communications equipment associated with the power plant.
  • Implement the established safety program with emphasis on United States Army Corps of Engineers and Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety guidelines.
  • Leading a team of electronic technicians, mechanics, and electricians within the power plants.
  • Conducting site visits to remote and primary powerhouse operations within the area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance and Operations Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform common tasks of mechanical and electrical equipment, systems and structures, power and power generation, transmission systems, construction methods and practices, contract inspection, and cost estimating. I can interpret State environmental rules and regulations pertaining to discharges into flowing streams and the national primary drinking water regulations to operate and maintain the potable and waste water treatment systems at these facilities. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work tasks require that the incumbent be capable of rapid simultaneous mental and muscular coordination in conjunction with eye and hand coordination to operate switches and controls in accordance with meter indications. In order to perform the maintenance, inspection and operation of power station equipment the incumbent may lift and carry heavy objects, climb and reach above the shoulders, stand, sit, crawl and kneel for prolonged periods of time and performs repeated bending.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent inspections of areas where work is being performed may expose employees to moderate discomforts such as high noise levels, adverse weather conditions, dirty conditions, painting, grinding, sandblasting, etc. Majority of the work is in the office area.
