Summary

This position is in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Audits (OA) conducting independent, objective audits, reviews, and other examinations of NASA and NASA contractor programs and projects to improve NASA operations. The OA provides a broad range of professional audit and advisory services, performs focused reviews of specific management issues, comments on NASA policies, and is responsible for oversight of NASA audits performed under contract or by other Federal agencies.

Duties

  • Conducts evaluations of ongoing NASA functions to ensure the organization meets its stated goals and identifies areas where operational efficiency can be enhanced.
  • Prepares written documents, including substantial, detailed audit, policy analysis, and/or performance evaluation reports) that provide findings, guidance, and recommendations to NASA, Congress, and other audiences.
  • Informs the work assignment supervisor of the progress of the assignment, identifying potentially controversial matters or far-reaching implications as appropriate.
  • Conducts research, planning and assessments of NASA's program, products and services within specified areas of responsibility.
  • Recommends actions necessary to maintain or improve improve program/project/organizational efficiency and productivity that result in changes or improvements in organization, staffing, work methods, and procedures.
  • Presents findings and recommendations on complex issues or problems impacting major programs.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:

  • Planning for and researching business or management practices for application to organizational programs or operations;
  • Leading teams responsible for completing significant portions of reviews of program/project/organizational efficiency or productivity;
  • Presenting the results of analysis which support changes or improvements in Agency policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders at various levels via oral communication.
