Duties

  • Set up proper storage areas for material within the general warehousing plan.
  • Ensure warehouse materials storage areas are secure.
  • Report discrepancies to higher authority.
  • Input receipt into computer software system.
  • Assemble items for shipping according to information on receiving vouchers.
  • Store items based on established procedures.
  • Use manual equipment to lift and move stock.
  • Inspect shipments for expiration dates, quality, and quantity of invoiced materials.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler tasks. I can utilize the proper tools and devices to perform simple Materials Handler tasks. In addition, I have the ability to comprehend and interpret written material. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion make sure they are properly performed.

  • Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough and uneven surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching; or similar activities in uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds; however, assistance is required from other warehousemen, laborers, and equipment operators when moving items over 70 pounds. Employee is regularly assigned to activities which involve stocking and retrieving items over shelves and cabinets. Operates forklifts and motor vehicles (occasionally up to 4 ton).
  • Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty. or poorly lighted areas. May work on open docks or storage yards. Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other material handling equipment. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which requires special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts or machines. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves. Incumbent will be required to work day, evening and night shifts on regular workdays, weekends and holidays. When required, drives throughout the installation and/or off post to civilian hospitals within a 100 mile radius.
