Duties
The position requires a current D.C. or State driver’s license and a Certificate as a Powered Industrial Truck driver to operate a Forklift in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.178 (l). This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations. You must have a forklift operating license.
Major Duties:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assigns duties and evaluates performance.
Provides leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements.
Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis; establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level supervisors; coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors; determines the number of workers needed to accomplish specific projects; redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work; informs higher level supervisors of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources; and participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
Ensures that needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable AOC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas.
Material Handling Responsibilities:
Orders and purchases equipment and furniture for special functions set-ups. Responsible for maintenance, storage and repair of furniture and equipment.
Along with subordinate Materials Handlers, sets up facilities for special functions.
Receives and unloads designated conveyances, palletizes and stacks material. Examines packaging material for conformity with security requisitions which includes proper markings, method of packaging and required shipping protection.
Ensures rooms and other areas where access is restricted to day operations are cleaned.
Forklift Operating Responsibilities:
Operates hand truck, pallet jacks, dollies and other material handling equipment to deliver stock to storage areas or job sites.
Re-positions large trucks at the loading dock bays to facilitate workflow or specialized functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
