There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Material Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) duties. I can follow basic instructions. I can operate basic materials handling equipment. I can stock, palletize, arrange and rotate items according to height, width and weight. I can operate a motor vehicle ranging from 1-10 tons and operate a forklift. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort:
Exerts moderate physical effort in operation, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads. Must independently lift and stack boxes weighing up to 70 pounds. Required to bend, stoop, reach, and pull. Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 70 pounds. May handle heavier items with weight lifting equipment or with assistance from other workers.
Working Conditions:
The employee is required to operate the vehicle regardless of the weather conditions. He/she drives in all types of traffic and weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a Government installation. Warehousing duties are performed both inside and outside. Work areas may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease and solvents as well as high noise levels. Hard-toe shoes, gloves, and other protective devices are available.
